BSEL Lunch & Learn

Wednesday, Oct. 21st, 2015
12:30 – 2:00 pm
The Forum, TCC 450

The USC Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab invites you to our second Lunch & Learn of the fall semester, featuring Elizabeth Scharpf, the chief instigating officer at Sustainable Health Enterprises (SHE).

SHE is a social venture that has been recognized by the Harvard Business School, the New York Times’ Nick Kristof and Bill Clinton for shaking up the status quo in the international development industry by using business solutions (rather than the charity/donation-only approach) to tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems.

SHE’s first initiative is SHE28, which addresses females’ lack of access to affordable menstrual pads in Africa, Asia and South America, causing them to miss school and/or work. SHE is currently helping women roll out a franchise model in Rwanda manufacturing and distributing affordable, eco-friendly menstrual pads by sourcing local, inexpensive raw materials (e.g., banana fibers) and leveraging existing female networks.

Come and join us for this exciting event and enjoy a free lunch while you’re at it!

The event will take place Wednesday, October 21st 12:30-2:00pm in TCC 450. Free lunch will be served.
This event is cosponsored by SoGal, Marshall Global Brigades and Trojan Scholars Society.
