Open Student Intern Position (PAID) – Office of Advancement, Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences

Join the Major Gifts Team of the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. You will be supporting the team by creating academic and community research profiles crucial to developing new funding opportunities for programs, aid packages, and facilities that benefit students, faculty, alumni, and friends of Dornsife. You will work within one of the focus areas: Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Science, or Community (groups with constituencies beyond Dornsife). You will also have the opportunity to experience advancement activities at a major private research university. In addition to working with our major gifts team, you will be working with other student interns on a variety of projects. Our office is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, just across the street from the L.A. Public Library, and is easily accessible by the DASH transit system.

Major academic institutions and nonprofits worldwide use development research to fuel their fundraising. The research and fundraising experience gained with Dornsife can lead to jobs in the nonprofit and educational spheres. And those skills can also be applied to jobs in today’s information-driven business market.

Interns are paid hourly. Work hours are flexible, but students should be available for approximately ten (10) hours per week for spring 2014; and at least twenty (20) hours per week in summer 2014.

Qualifications:
Research experience using databases (financial, biographical, and philanthropic) in addition to special proficiency in internal Internet tools; detail-oriented with impeccable organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to take initiative and work independently; and takes direction well. Previous work experience in an office setting or having performing administrative duties are a plus. Graduate students preferred, however, all applicants are considered. Bi-lingual a plus.
