1- Seeking Webmaster for Nonprofit Organization

Yellitaare/African Empowerment, based in Los Angeles, is an International non-profit, non-governmental organization that uses the primary medium of film to address a variety of social justice and human rights issues.

In partnership with West African Ministers of Family, African First Ladies, famous African soccer players, musicians, we have launching the “Eradicate Early and Forced Marriage” campaign. The over-arching goal of the International Campaign is abolish child marriage as the top priority in the current international actions against early and forced marriages.

Yellitaare is looking for an Intern to work as a webmaster

Tasks include:

- Maintain and improve website, add or enhance content, fix problems, perform backups, enhance security, etc.

- Implement new features, such as improved article posting system built around current site structure.

- Find or create solutions for campaign/project related needs.

- Advise on technical matters.

-Strong understanding of how social media networks and video-sharing sites operates

Hours: about five per week, more or less. Flexible.

Location: from anywhere, primarily using e-mail and phone.

This internship requires individuals who are:

- True proficiency with PHP, CSS, Javascript, and standards for HTML etc. Understanding of security is essential. Other scripting or programming knowledge is helpful. Flash is helpful.
-Well-organized and accustomed to tight deadlines
-Fast-moving and able to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances during a start-up and testing phase solutions is helpful.

2- Grant Writer Intern:

We seeking grant writing volunteers and Interns to research and write grants to corporations, foundations and government agencies for Yellitaare. If you have experience in grant-writing, or are willing to learn, we hope you will join our grant-writing team! The Grant Writer will identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities.

Hours are flexible and there will be the ability to work from home or remote site.

Potential interns should be undergraduate or graduate students. We look for an academic focus in Nonprofit Development and Management, Communications, Human Rights, International Relations, Political Science and interdisciplinary studies. Candidates should have:

-Excellent research skills
-Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
-Ability to work independently as well as to multitask effectively
-Previous development/fundraising experience preferred

We require a minimum of two months commitment, for at least 10 hours a week. Internships are unpaid

3- Individual Giving Internship

Yellitaare/African Empowerment, based in Los Angeles, is an International non-profit, non-governmental organization that uses the primary medium of film to address a variety of social justice and human rights issues.

The Development Department secures financial support for Yellitaare from a major gifts program, foundations and corporate donors, an annual fund campaign that targets individuals, and a program of events including concerts, dinners and an annual fundraising gala. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and intelligent individual to hone their research skills while building hands-on development/fundraising experience.

Tasks will include:
- Conducting research on individual donors and prospects;
-Creating and updating detailed and concise prospect and donor profiles, financial snapshots and event briefings for presentation to the Individual Giving Team;
-Researching and generating a solid list of major giving prospects;
-Proactively identifying new tools and techniques for prospect research;

The Research and Individual Giving Intern will play a key role in helping to build Yellitaare network and pipeline of supporters. This position will require the ability to think strategically about Yellitaare’ appeal to donors and known philanthropists, new populations and networks for Yellitaare to target with specific projects, and a comprehensive approach to finding connections amongst varying constituencies linked to Yellitaare.

Qualifications:

-Knowledge of MS Office applications a must; experience with web-based database systems and web design a plus

General Information:

We require a minimum of two months commitment, for at least 15 hours a week. Internships are unpaid.
